About Medical Laboratory Sciences
The Medical Laboratory Sciences Program is one of the six programs at Al-Nahrain College. It aims to prepare scientifically and practically qualified professionals in the field of medical laboratories, awarding a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree upon successful completion of eight semesters.
The program consists of eight semesters (four years). The first six semesters are common to all students, while the final two semesters are dedicated to specialization in one of five fields: Histopathology and Cytology, Clinical Chemistry, Parasitology and Medical Entomology, Microbiology, and Hematology and Immunohematology. The program follows a problem-based and community-oriented learning approach, combining theoretical study with intensive practical training in laboratories and healthcare institutions. It aims to graduate academically excellent and professionally competent laboratory scientists capable of leadership, research, education, and community service.
Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree
Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to obtain a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in one of the five specializations, providing a strong scientific foundation and broad career opportunities.
Career Opportunities
Graduates are qualified to work in Ministry of Health hospitals, private hospitals, armed forces hospitals, private laboratories, faculties of medical laboratory sciences, and research institutions and centers.
